In 2019, Victory Baptist Church gets to celebrate our 50-Year Church Anniversary. While we are very excited about this occasion, we know that we wouldn’t be here without God working in our lives.
On August 25, 1969, Pastor Dan Griffin was contacted to organize a group of believers into a church. On August 28th, the believers met and Victory Baptist Church was established. The first service was held in the home of Dr. Don Argo on September 7, 1969.
One week later on September 14th, the believers met at their new location at 203 N. 4th Street. By the 8th of December of 1969, the Articles of Incorporation were finalized.
On Easter Sunday of 1973, the groundbreaking ceremony began for the new chapel and parsonage at 714 N. 19th Street. Once the building permit was purchased, construction began in the fall of 1974. By June 1, 1975, a dedication service was held in the new building better known as “Victory Baptist Church.”
Almost 30 years later, plans were being made to add onto the chapel. On October 3, 2004, another groundbreaking ceremony began for the new south addition and drive-up/drop-off canopy that were added to the building. After completion a dedication service was held.
As you can see, God has shown in His Mighty Hand in many ways. While 50 years have passed and many faces have come and gone, the faith of the believers still carries on in our commitment to the next generation. So, please come and see what the Lord wants do with Victory Baptist Church. Yes, we are thankful for our future. But, we are even more excited for the great things He will do!
